Data Explorer Application Settings

With Data Explorer in Author Mode, you can:

  • Change the general appearance of the colors, icons, and labels in Data Explorer using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) skins.
  • Change the layout of each individual table when you first select the table (that is, you can determine if Grid, Form, or Child tabs are used).
  • Create refined custom defined layouts.

Set the Default Table and Layout Arrangement

You can select the default starting table and the default layout arrangement for the each selected table, such as Grid, Form, and Child Grid.

You set the default table and layout arrangement on the Application Settings, General tab. To view this tab, in Data Explorer (in Author Mode), go to Tools, App Settings, General tab. The following image shows this tab:

Define the Look and Feel of Data Explorer

You can change the look and feel of Data Explorer by uploading a new set of CSS values. The attached dataexplorererskin.css sample skin is included. You can create a new skin an upload the new CSS file.

You define the look and feel of Data Explorer on the Application Settings, Skins tab. To view this tab, in Data Explorer (in Author Mode), go to Tools, App Settings, Skins tab. The following image shows this tab:

Refresh Data Explorer to see the new skin take effect.

Add Links and Define the Layout for a Table

You can create a new named link and a specific layout for a selected table. Enter a new name 'Add New Link' and select an Active Table. You can control which panes display (Left Grid, Scalar Form, and (tab) Child Grid).

You add links and define the layout for a table on the Application Settings, Linking tab. To view this tab, in Data Explorer (in Author Mode), go to Tools, App Settings, Linking tab. The following image shows this tab:
